Steve Plowden, Realtor
Dunes Marketing Group
Get to know Steve: Hilton Head Island as a hometown? Not many can make that claim, but Steve Plowden sure can! "I remember quite a different place almost 30 years ago-little development and few people," he said. "I spent my days finding adventures via moped, fishing and setting traps. I made money fishing for sand dollars and starfish in the ocean (when it was legal) and diving for golf balls in the lagoons. I would sell them to the souvenir shops on the island."And Steve continues to sell. He has sold real estate at Dunes Marketing Group for over 17 years. "Growing up on the island has afforded me the knowledge to give my clients a casual and informative education on the process of purchasing real estate in the Lowcountry," he said. Steve is a "third generation" realtor, following in his mother's and grandfather's footsteps.Real estate philosophy: "My grandfather taught me that real estate is not about selling; it is about educating. Educating buyers and sellers through knowledge as an expert in your field is your job. Once you have done that, the sale is only a result."Family history: The Plowden family roots run deep in South Carolina. Steve's grandfather several generations back was General William Moultrie, the first governor of South Carolina. Fort Moultrie is so named due to his defense of Sullivan's Island in the Revolutionary War. He is also credited with establishing the South Carolina state flag.Community service: Steve is an active member at St. Andrews By-The-Sea where he serves as an usher and teaches the children's church. He has also served on the Professional Standards & Ethics Committees as well as the Distinguished Sales Award Committees for the Hilton Head Area Association of Realtors. Every year, he pours his heart and soul into the Week of Champions, a non-profit volunteer organization that provides sports camps for children free of charge."Hilton Head is home, and I take the responsibility of ‘giving back' seriously. You could say that my life is full-full of blessings that I cherish every day," said Steve. "And my biggest blessing is my family: wife, Lisa and our two children, Jesse and Cassidy."A commitment to hard work, serving others and a deep appreciation of the South Carolina Lowcountry are all part of Steve's family heritage. He invokes these qualities in his real estate dealings. Please call him at Dunes Marketing Group's Palmetto Dunes office.
