Get to know Debbie: Long before becoming a Realtor, Debbie Hillis was a customer at Dunes Marketing Group, buying and selling real estate across the island. As a regular visitor to the island, she often imagined living here fulltime.
Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Debbie served as president of Raymond Lift Truck dealership for 22 years-the only female dealership principal in the country in the heavy equipment industry.
When the family business sold nine years ago, Debbie saw her opportunity to relocate and start a new career. "Having been associated with Dunes Marketing Group as a buyer, I thought I could bring my experience and knowledge to the company and do well as a seller," she said. "I was always interested in real estate; it was a hobby of mine. When we sold our business in Ohio I knew I wanted to sell real estate wherever I relocated."
Real estate philosophy: Having lived in Hilton Head Plantation, Ribault Island, Indigo Run and now Bluffton, Debbie can give you a relaxed and informed presentation of the Lowcountry real estate market. "My philosophy is to be honest with your customers and yourself. I try to give good, solid advice, and I hope people will come back to me time after time for their real estate needs."
Hobbies and interests: When not showing property or soaking up the Carolina sunshine, find Debbie globetrotting. She loves to travel! She's also an active animal advocate and has several adopted "children" from the Hilton Head Humane Association. "There is nothing that can compare to the unconditional love you receive from a rescued pet; it's the best thing in the world after a hard day," she said.
